Fixed

Zip code keyboard would not close. During onboarding, tapping the zip code field opened a number pad with no way to dismiss it, hiding the Continue button. There is now a Done button above the keypad, and tapping elsewhere or scrolling also closes it.
“What is the political party of the President now?” showed the President’s name instead of the party.
“How many justices are on the Supreme Court?” showed a “check uscis.gov” message and asked you to set your state. It now answers nine (9).
Multiple-choice questions about your officials offered placeholder text as the correct answer. Questions about the President, Vice President, Speaker of the House and Chief Justice now offer the real name. Once your state is set, so do questions about your governor, senators and state capital. Multiple Choice skips any question about where you live that it cannot grade for you and fills the test with other questions. It asks “Name your U.S. Representative” only when your zip code is in a state with a single House seat. Placeholder text such as “Answers will vary” is never offered as a choice, and a correct answer never appears among the wrong choices.
Interview Mode now accepts a surname on its own for the President, Vice President, Speaker of the House and Chief Justice, as USCIS does.
Interview Mode no longer shows placeholder text as the answer to a question about where you live. The same fix covers the answer you reveal in Tap Mode, the question browser and the missed-question review.
The home screen widget could disagree with the app about the current President and Vice President. It now reads the same data as the app.
The widget could show “(Answers will vary by state)” as the answer of the day. It now uses the state and zip code you set in the app. Once your state is set, it names both of your senators. It names your representative only when your zip code is in a state with a single House seat. Otherwise that question is left out for the day. Without a location, both questions are left out.
The widget now uses the language you chose in the app, instead of always following your iPhone’s language.
Tapping a widget question on the 2025 test could open a different question with the same number. It now opens that question in Study when your test asks the same question, and otherwise opens Study.
Tapping the widget a second time on the same day now jumps to its question again, even when Study is already open. Going back to the Study tab later no longer returns you to the widget’s question.
Study streaks now count every day you study. With Pro the streak stayed at 0 however often you studied, and flashcards and verbal practice never counted. A study day is now any day you complete a civics, reading or writing test, answer a question in Interview Mode or verbal practice, reveal a flashcard answer, or study reading or writing items. Ending a civics test early with End & Score counts too, once you have answered a question. Leaving a reading or writing test with Save & Exit before you answer anything does not count. Free and Pro follow the same rule. When you update, your streak is rebuilt from your saved test history, so it does not start over. The current streak goes back to 0 once you miss a full day. Without Pro you see your current streak. Pro adds your best streak, total study days and streak milestone notifications.
Streak Milestones and Achievement Alerts in Settings never sent a notification. While they are turned on, you now get a notification when you reach a streak milestone or earn an achievement.
VoiceOver now names every icon-only button by what it does rather than reading out its symbol name, across 57 buttons on 14 screens. Selected filters and modes announce that they are selected, and Pro-gated options say so rather than looking available and doing nothing.
Fixed the shuffle button in verbal study, which lit up without changing the question order. With shuffle off, questions now stay in official order, even after the list starts over.
Filter buttons now say which filter is active, and onboarding announces which setup step you are on.
Text at accessibility sizes no longer gets cut off. Home screen cards wrap onto extra lines and the study flashcard scrolls when a question outgrows it.
Reopening the app part-way through setup left your representative showing as unknown on the final summary, even though your zip code was still filled in.
Parts of some screens stayed in English whatever language you chose. That included test history, the setup summary, the Elected Officials screen and messages on the Pro screen. They now use your language.
On an iPhone set to Chinese, the language welcome screen showed “zh” instead of a language name. It now recognizes Traditional and Simplified Chinese and continues in the one your iPhone uses.
Choosing Tagalog in the app showed English almost everywhere. It now shows Tagalog.
Counters such as “Question 3 of 20” stayed in English in every language. They now use your language.
Vietnamese text that was missing its accent marks is fixed, along with a few French, Spanish, Portuguese and Turkish strings.

Changed

Premium is now a one-time purchase called Pro. It unlocks every feature the old subscription did, for $4.99, once. Pro is sold as a dated edition, starting with Pro (2026-2027). You keep the Pro features available when you buy, along with improvements to those features. A substantially new feature set added later may be offered as a separate edition, and you never need it to keep what you own. See what Pro covers. Monthly and yearly subscriptions are no longer sold. Existing subscribers keep full access and nothing changes for them.
Remove Ads is now $1.99, reduced from $8.99.
The Premium section of Settings is now called Add-ons. If you own Pro, Remove Ads appears there greyed out as Included with Pro, and the Pro screen no longer lists it.
Settings tells the two legal documents apart. Terms of Use opens the app’s own terms and Apple’s Standard EULA, previously Apple EULA, opens Apple’s. The Terms of Use now say that Apple’s agreement governs your license to use the app and that ours are additional terms for purchases, editions, refunds, accuracy and data.
Questions that depend on where you live now say what they need. Your governor, senators and state capital come from the state you set, and a zip code on its own does not fill them in. “Name your U.S. Representative” asks for your zip code. The app reads your state from it and accepts any member of that state’s House delegation, or the one member if your state has a single seat. Flashcards show your governor, senators and state capital once your state is set.
On the Elected Officials screen, tap the civics question under an official to open that question in Study.

Updated

Elected officials refreshed for 2026. All 50 governors, all 100 senators and 434 House members, each cross-checked against a second independent source. Senators and House members were confirmed against senate.gov and the Clerk of the House. Two vacant House seats are left out of their state’s list of representatives rather than showing a former member.
