Known Issues

Every app has rough edges, and we believe in being transparent about ours. Below are the known limitations in the current version, along with workarounds where available.

Speech Recognition

  • Speech recognition may be less accurate in noisy environments. Background noise can interfere with speech-to-text accuracy.

Workaround: Practice in a quiet room for the best results. This also mirrors the actual test environment.

  • Some accents may require slower speech. While fuzzy matching is forgiving, heavy accents combined with fast speech may reduce accuracy.

Workaround: Speak clearly at a moderate pace. The app’s fuzzy matching will handle minor pronunciation differences.

Handwriting Recognition

  • OCR may struggle in dark mode. The handwriting canvas and optical character recognition can be less accurate in dark mode due to contrast differences.

Workaround: Switch to light mode (Settings → Appearance) when practicing handwriting for better recognition accuracy.

  • Very small or very large handwriting may not be recognized. The OCR engine works best with moderate-sized, clearly written text.

Workaround: Write at a natural size, about the same as you would on a piece of paper.

State Officials

  • State officials may become outdated between app updates. Officials data is updated with each app release. Between releases, newly elected or appointed officials may not yet be reflected.

Workaround: For the most current state officials, verify at uscis.gov.

General

  • App data does not sync between devices. Study progress, test history, and settings are stored locally on each device and do not sync via iCloud.

  • Reinstalling the app clears progress. All study data is stored locally. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app will reset your progress, streaks, and test history.

Keep the app installed to preserve your study history. Your purchases can be restored, but study progress cannot.
