Once installed, tap the icon to open. The app works completely offline. No internet connection required.

Now that the app is installed, let’s configure it for your specific situation.
Choose Your Test Version
The U.S. citizenship civics test comes in two versions. Which one you need depends on when you filed your Form N-400 (Application for Naturalization).
2008 Test (100 Questions)
- For applicants who filed Form N-400 before October 20, 2025
- 100 civics questions covering American government and history
- During the interview, USCIS asks up to 10 questions; you must answer 6 correctly to pass
2025 Test (128 Questions)
- For applicants who filed Form N-400 on or after October 20, 2025
- 128 civics questions with updated categories
- During the interview, USCIS asks up to 20 questions; you must answer 12 correctly to pass
Not sure which test to take? Check the date on your N-400 receipt notice (Form I-797C). The filing date determines which test version applies to you.
You can switch between test versions at any time in Settings.
65/20 Consideration
If you are 65 years or older and have been a permanent resident for 20 or more years, you qualify for the 65/20 consideration. Here’s what that means:
- You’ll be tested on 10 questions drawn from a specially designated bank of 20 questions (from either the 2008 or 2025 test). You only need to study the 20 questions marked with an asterisk (*)
- You need to answer 6 out of 10 correctly to pass
- You can take the civics test in the language of your choice
- The reading and writing tests use simplified vocabulary
- You can enable this in Settings → Test Settings → 65/20 Consideration
The 65/20 designated questions are marked with an asterisk (*) in both the app and official USCIS study materials.
Set Your State
Some civics questions have state-specific answers. For example:
- “Who is the Governor of your state?”
- “Who are your U.S. Senators?”
- “Name your U.S. Representative.”
Go to Settings → State and select your state so the app shows the correct answers for your location.
The app keeps state officials up to date with each release. You can verify current officials at uscis.gov.
Choose Your Language
The app supports 12+ languages:
- Spanish, Portuguese, French
- Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional)
- Korean, Vietnamese
- Arabic, Hindi
- Turkish, Russian, Tagalog
Go to Settings → Language to change the app interface language.
The reading and writing tests are always in English, since the actual USCIS test requires demonstrating English ability. The language setting applies to the app interface and civics study materials.
